Sony and Marvel in discussions on Spider-Man appearing in Captain America: Civil War

Among the many leaks coming out from the ongoing Sony Pictures hack is news that Marvel and Sony were in discussions on Spider-Man appearing in Captain America: Civil War as well as Marvel Studios being licensed to produce a new trilogy of Spider-Man films.

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that back in October there were talks between several executives at both studios trying to work out the above mentioned deal. Earlier reports even listed previous Spider-Man director Sam Raimi being brought back as an enticement to Sony to loosen it's grip on the character's film rights.

At this point it seems like the talks have stalled and Sony is now re-evaluating how it positions the Spider-Man film franchise going forward. The story appears to be developing and I expect to see a few more updates soon.
