Batman vs. Superman: Production moving Forward even though Release still Pushed Back

The internet was going crazy the other day when Warner Bros announced that Batman vs. Superman was moving from summer 2015 to a summer 2016 release. Everyone assumed that this meant that the production on the movie also was pushed back. Seems not so. According to Deadline, Ben Affleck has exited directing the pilot to 'The Middle Man' due to scheduling conflicts with the movie's production schedule.

If you think about it, this does not sound that surprising. Man of Steel was released in 2013 after filming for that movie was done two years earlier in 2011.  So we are following a sort of pattern here. Certainly the elongated post-production time allows greater focus on effects, editing and reshoots.
