Ticker Reviews: Star Wars: Drath Vader and the Ghost Prison #1

This first issue while not featuring much of Darth Vader himself set up the 5 part miniseries and introduced us to the real focal character Larita Tohm, the valedictorian of the first class of Imperial cadets. And from there it's off into the main story. Writer Haden Blackman does such a superb job telling the story from Tohm's perspective that it is easy to forget that in the Star Wars universe these cadets, and obviously Vader himself, are actually the bad guys. Great writing!

The art was very beautiful as well. Agustin Alessio showed an excellent sense of storytelling that worked with and supported Blackman's story but didn't overtake it. Overall it was a great first issue and one of the best introductions to a SW mini Dark Horse has put out in years. I'm eager for the second issue.
